The Mission/Outreach ministry team wanted to make folks of other opportunities for homeless ministry in conjunction with the United Way of Lancaster County and the Lancaster County Coalition for the Homeless that connect with the Mad Matters ministry.
1. Homeless Count--as a part of a nation-wide program, on one special night at the beginning of the year, folks go out and gather the numbers of folks living without adequate housing. Because of financing issues, a full count has not been made of the Indian Land area. More details will follow as they become known.
2. For the second year, a Homeless Warming Center is available during the cold months. This ministry provides an evening meal and a warm, dry place to sleep for those who need it. It is now housed at the Lancaster County Council on Aging, 309 Plantation Rd. in Lancaster.
These agencies ask for individuals and groups to prepare a meal for about 10 people and to deliver it to the Center at 6:30 pm. Any food not used will be sent to area agencies. No food will go to waste.
If you would like to prepare and deliver a meal or get together with others to prepare a meal, you can sign up by clicking here.
